This Old Mare Just Aint What She Used to be.

So, on Monday I turn the big 3-0.

I'm not sure what thirty is supposed to feel like, but whatever it is...I'm not feeling it.

Most days, I look at my life and wonder who this man is in my bed and where did these three children come from. Aren't I still a seventeen year old cheerleader with big bangs and an obnoxious personality?

I'm not thirty.

Well, I guess I am. I guess it's true.

And this week, I've been reminded.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other day Kendon and I were discussing a girl he works with.

Kendon: "She's about 25ish."

Me: "So, she's about my age."

Kendon: "Uh...you're not really 25ish anymore."

Me: "Oh."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another reality check for you....

Kendon: "Sirri, you're so cute! Where did you come from? You must be cute like your mom."

Sirri: "Well, I'm CUTER than my mom. But, don't worry mom, I still love you."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And just one more.

Sirri: "So, mom. What kind of birthday cake are you going to have?"
Me: "I don't know sis. What kind do you think I should have?"

Sirri: "You could have a princess cake!"
Me: "Yeah. That's a good idea. Do you think I'm a princess?"

Sirri: "Um? Yeah? ............pause and in thought........... Well, mom. Maybe you should just have a Mommy cake."

What? This isn't what thirty year olds act like?
Oh.

  5. Thirty really is the worst birthday. I hated 30. Every birthday after that is not so bad. Although, I'm not really looking forward to 40...

  6. I'm still in denial I'm turning 30 next month. The 20's still sound cool and young. At least nobody has a clue how old I really am. I think it might have something to do with my behavior. . .

  7. I know what you mean...sometimes I really do look around and wonder how on earth I got to be the wife and mom!

You are so cute! Those teeth are a bit scary, but you are so cute! The quotes are really funny, too.

  9. i don't like the fact that i'm turning 27 on wednesday either. oh right...maybe it's because i still live at mom and dad's house...and i act like i'm 19 most days...and i hang out with 22 year olds that like loud cars and bullet bikes...or because the members of my single's branch presidency are MY friend's husbands...or because my niece is so worried that i can't find a husband. ugh.

  11. I was talking to my sis-in-law and her 8 year old daughter and friend walked by us. After walking by us, her daughter rolled her eyes and gave her friend a LOOK. I realized that she was thinking that her 33 year old mom and 30 year old aunt are so boring. I wanted to shake her and say, "You're mom is cool and hip! And so am I!"

    I keep telling myself that.

  21. I'm knockin' on the door of the 40's and I still haven't got it figured out. From this point on, I think it's just your body that ages. The spirit gets wiser but still stays young.

Anyway, enjoy your birthday, and shoot! Go ahead and enjoy the whole decade. 30's have been great for me!

  25. 30 looks good on you! Those pictures are 100% awesome.

Whenever I meet people my age, I estimate them to be about 10 years older. Argh. That means I look 10 years older, too. But you look about 26, so don't give it another thought!
