President President President Monson

Last week for Family Night we took the opportunity to talk to our kids about President Hinckley's passing and to remember him and what he stood for. It was a special night. We asked the kids who would be the prophet now. We asked if we would get a new prophet. They weren't sure of the answer and seemed a bit concerned. We were able to tell the kids that Heavenly Father would provide the world with a new prophet, a new leader to love, guide and direct us. As I was teaching this to our children, I was so overcome with the Spirit. I knew that the things I was teaching them are true. Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to have a Spiritual leader and that He would never leave us alone.

And so He has. Heavenly Father has called a new prophet. President Thomas S. Monson has been called of God and I will sustain and follow him and his guidance.

President Thomas S. Monson

Henry B. Eyring - First Counselor

Dieter F. Uchtdorf - Second Counselor

For Family Night last night we "introduced" the children to their new prophet. Sirri (the smarty pants) already knew his name when we showed her his picture. And Connor was excited to learn about President Monson. We read a story from the Friend that he wrote and I again could feel the power of the Spirit testifying to me that President Monson truly is a prophet of God.

What a blessing it is to be led and guided and taught the teachings of Christ through his prophet. As in the days of old, during the times of the Bible when Heavenly Father provided his beloved children living prophets, he continues to do so. And for this I am thankful!

To help the kids remember the prophet's name, we played duck duck GOOSE, but said President, President, President MONSON instead. The kiddos had a blast. And so did their Daddy since they picked him EVERY time. I was starting to feel a bit left out! Ah. Not really. It truly warms my heart to see that my kids love their daddy as much as I do!

Cute idea about President President Monson. That is a lot easier game to play than President President Uchtdorf. :-)
