"We hold these truths to be self evident...

that all men are created equal."

This is a beautiful line from our Declaration of Independence, as penned by men who, I believe, were inspired.

Unfortunately, our country has not always lived up to this ideal as well as it could and should have throughout its history.

That is why I feel today is a historical day. Whether you are for McCain or for Obama and setting all politics aside, today is a day to be proud to be an American.

We live in a country where dreams are meant to be dreamed and our highest aspirations can be accomplished. Just ask this guy...

Nice post honey! It is a historic day for this country. Now we all need to put our differences aside and support "President Obama" and keep this the greatest country on earth!

It is great to see history made. I was more for a smart black man than a dumb white girl so I'm happy with the results. :) Maybe next time we can have a more qualified woman running.

I have never been prouder to be an American. I truly never expected a man of color to be elected President in my lifetime.

I wish I had a dime for every time "History" or any derivitive of the word is said.

That snarky thing being said, I think over and over America has shown that we are willing to give "the little guy" a chance. FDR was disabled, Abraham Lincoln was shy beyond shy, Reagan did not have a college degree, Clinton was raised in almost poverty by a single mom, Carter a peanut farmer, Truman was a high school teacher. I think hope and faith in people's abilities despite social status, economic status or color is what makes us a great nation. My prayers will be for President Obama. This is going to be a great ride and a really interesting sociological time in America's history. (I get a dime!)

Now if only america could give that same chance to someone of a different religion. Romney was by far more qualified, but didn't stand a chance because of his religion. When people can put aside religion, then that will be a historical day for me.

Very well said, Lisa! Now, we must all work together and see if we can get this wonderful place and all of it's people back on a good track! It will not be an easy job and will take some time by everyone but if we all work together, hopefully, it can be done!!!
Love You!
