I Just Finished Reading.....

This book is absolutely Fabulous. It is beautiful and tragic and triumphant all at once. It is thick with grief, yet full of love. A must read. And a must buy. This is a book that I feel proud to have on my book shelf.

And now I am reading.....
And I must tell you that I am a bit annoyed that I am enjoying this story so much. I have heard a lot of scuttlebutt about this book. The waiting list at my library was LONG and you cannot talk to anyone who is a reader without discussing this book. And for all those reasons, all the reasons that should have had me running to get my name on the waiting list, I DIDN'T. I have a really hard time reading literature that is "trendy." It seems that much of the time, trendy = not good writing. So, here I am. Reading this book because it is our Book Group pick for the month and against my will and better judgment...I can't put it down. Grrrrr.

Full review to come when I am finished.

I too, kept Twilight on my shelf for quite awhile before I decided I would give in. I was SURE I would hate a book with vampires in it. (snicker) Glad I finally gave in! :)
I have the book thief sitting on my nightstand. I've been putting it off because I'm an OCD reader and can't stop once I start. Guess I'll have to crack it open tonight.

Welcome. (Twilight is the best I think.)

And thanks for the review of Book Thief...I've had mixed ones, but have wanted to read it since I heard a commentary about it on NPR...I should?

Loved Twlight and like Paige I am just starting New Moon. And I'll have to try out your recommendation. I love to read, but reading hates my family. I neglect EVERYTHING because I get so engrossed. It's dangerous.

I am excited to read the Book Thief. Thanks. I also was skeptical about the vampire books. Loved the first. Liked the second. Didn't finish the third. Awaiting your review!

I feel your Twilight pain. Apparently you are the last person on earth who hasn't read it because everyone in the comments has, including me. Sadly, I loved it which only means that I am not as intelligent as I thought I was. Sigh.

I had the same resistance to the Twilight series and I also loved them. Hate it when that happens.

I'll have to check out the other one. I need a good book now.

I did the same thing with Harry Potter! I absolutely refused to read it, and then, there I was, facing a 3 hour drive to SLC, a 1 hour wait at the airport, and a 3 hour flight to Chicago, all without a single thing to read EXCEPT Harry Potter. So, what's a girl to do? I read the first four books in 10 days over Christmas break, and then foamed at the mouth until the last three came out. And now I've got my husband hooked!

When on earth do you find time to read a book???!!! Your old Grandma can't even do that!! Well, the truth is - my eyes don't like it too well, but sometimes I just go ahead and do it! Papa reads all the time!!
I will have to try your books!
Love you!
