A What?

I love Halloween. I haven't always. I of course loved the candy but I don't really remember any of my costumes or planning for weeks ahead of time what I wanted to be.

But, now that I have kids I can not wait for the end of August to come because I allow myself to start daydreaming about what cute something I want to create for my kiddos. (I'm not looking forward to the day when my kids pick their own costumes. I like how it works out now. I choose, then through conversation lead them to believe that they chose for themselves! Every one is happy! And the kids are CUTE not scary. Please don't ever choose to be satan Connor.)

The funny thing is, I must have silly taste in costumes because whenever I decide what my kids are going to be and I share it with others, I always get, "hmmmm. That will be interesting." or, "how do you plan on making that?" or, "I've never heard of anyone being that before."

And this year is no different.

The other day I went to the fabric store to get all my supplies. As I was buying brown vinyl this is the conversation I had with the "fabric cutter lady."

Her: "What is the brown vinyl for?" (Brown vinyl is probably not a real hot seller!)
Me: "For my daughter's Halloween costume. She is going to be an ice cream cone."
Her: "An ice cream cone. hmmm. I've helped people with a lot of costumes but never an ice cream cone. People sure come up with crazy things." (see I told you people say, "hmmmm.")
Me: "Well, if you think that is funny, my son plans on being a road."
Her: "A road? Who would think to be a road?"
Me: "My three year old."

So, if you're intrigued as well...pictures to come soon.

Here are some pictures of years past.

Sirri, the Rainbow Fish

Connor the Puppy Dog. (No one thought that was weird.)
Oh, I miss his chub!!!

Sirri and Connor as ducks!

How cute! I can't believe the chunck on that baby! I thought my Ainsley was a chunker?!? I'm excited to see the road, I can't even imagine how to put that one together.

Oh my gosh! That shows how much they have grown up in the last couple of years! That is kind of sad, but I guess that is life!! Honey, I have to hand it to you! You don't back down from anything!!And, the kids will be thrilled to pieces! And, they will look darling!! The road will be really cute and Sirri will be a sweet strawberry ice cream cone!!! What about little Meg? Can you use an old one of Sirri's?
Love you!

Those costumes are adorable. I love little kid costumes when they're all homemade and adorable! A lot of times I have made my kids' costumes but this year I am too tired and we bought most of them. Anyway, I can't wait to see the ice cream cone and the road!!

How clever and cute! I want to be that kind of mom. I'm not. Griffin is going to be Spiderman like every other boy his age, and Logan is going to be a black cat. Did I mention I hate sewing?

If you can bottle some of your Halloween energy I would buy it.

I'm jealous of your halloween costume making abilities. I don't even know how to sew on a button. Really. I need help.

You are a way better mom than me. I go to Party City and convince them they need to be the cheapest costume there. They will talk about it in therapy some day. Your children will brag about their mom coming up with creative, clever costumes that she made herself. I suck. You rock.

Hey! I am going to be shave ice (cone bottom and rainbow wig top). Now I was worried about what to do for a cone. But no longer! Yippeee.

So you said you sent me something and I am hoping it is one of your homemade costumes for Alice. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

You are too much. I DO love choosing little kids' costumes. My big kids have their own ideas this year...but my twins are adorable twin clowns (homemade by my mother-in-law) and it warms my heart!!!
